The coolant pump, also known as the water pump, is one of the key components in the engine cooling system. The cooling system consists of the thermostat, coolant fluid, and radiator, all of which support the performance of the water pump. The water pump is connected to the water pump pulley, which is driven by a V-belt, so its rotation speed matches the engine speed.

The water pump functions to circulate coolant throughout the engine parts to prevent overheating. The thermostat acts as a valve for the water pump, automatically opening when the coolant temperature inside the engine rises. The heated coolant flows into the radiator to be cooled, then re-enters the engine. The water pump itself is protected by a water pump housing.

Damage to the water pump can occur due to worn-out water pump bearings or leakage in the pump.
